Meditation can be an amazing tool to deepen our understanding of ourselves, and find space within our daily lives. It can help us to reduce stress, manage pain, and access greater insight and joy. Join Catherine on this six-week introduction to mindfulness meditation - whether you are totally new to mindfulness, or would like to strengthen your practice in a supportive group.
Over six weeks, we will explore the fundamental principles of mindfulness practice through discussion and guided meditation. Each week we will explore one or more of the foundational mindfulness practices: sitting meditation, walking meditation, and body scan.
We will explore mindfulness of the body, heart and mind and look at simple ways you can bring the ideas and practices into your daily life. We will support each other in establishing a regular mindfulness practice at home, so that by the end of the course you are confident in your own independent practice.
Mindfulness practice can be helpful for everyone, including those who experience depression and anxiety. However, if you are currently in a serious phase of these, or other mental health issues, it is best to wait until this has eased before you begin with mindfulness. If you have any doubts about the suitability of the course, please get in touch with me or your mental health team for advice.
Course runs for six sessions with a two week break. Course dates: Wednesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th October, 7th, 14th, 21st November.
