Mindful Yoga for Stress

Many of us are familiar with the feeling of being overloaded, overwhelmed or just plain stressed out by our lives. But what is stress? What does it mean for your body and your mind?

Explore with Catherine about how mindful yoga can help us learn about our response to stress. In the first part of the workshop, we will discuss the physiology of stress and the nervous system and use guided physical explorations and short meditations to find out the ways stress shows up in our bodies. We will discover some of the most common tension patterns that relate to stress and explore methods to address these.

The second part of the workshop will bring us to a mindful yoga practice and deep relaxation- putting some of the skills from the first half of the workshop to practice. This will include yoga postures, gentle movement, breath awareness and deep relaxation.

This down-to-earth workshop will offer many simple, practical tools that we can bring into daily life to help us understand and respond to stress in new ways. You will leave with a better understanding of what stress is, how it affects you personally and a toolkit of practices to help you address it in your life. Expect to leave feeling refreshed and ready for whatever the week holds!

No yoga experience is necessary, and everybody is welcome.
